Fortnite Season 9 carries on and along with it comes the Fortbyte system, Season 9’s most content packed addition. Today’s Fortbyte (Wednesday of Week 6) presents us with Fortbyte #48: Accessible By Using The Vox Pickaxe To Smash The Gnome Besides A Mountain Top Throne.
Fortnite Season 9 introduced the Fortbyte system, which is a special challenge released every day at 2pm BST. The challenges most often take the form of a treasure hunt style challenge in which you track down a single treasure by following clues. There are 100 Fortbytes in total and collecting them nets you cosmetic rewards. Each Fortbyte you collect, you also reveal a tile on a mosaic image featuring Bunker Jonesy, which also promises to unveil the secret behind Season 9.
This article focuses on Fortnite Season 9, Fortbyte #48: Accessible By Using The Vox Pickaxe To Smash The Gnome Besides A Mountain Top Throne. It is the third Fortbyte in a row to require a substantially developed Battle Pass to complete.
Fortbyte #48: Vox Pickaxe
The Vox Pickaxe is located on tier 55 of the Battle Pass, which is the highest of any requirement yet. Even if you’re entirely up-to-date with your weekly challenges, there is still a chance you still won’t be tier 55 yet. This means you also need to be somewhat on top of your daily challenges as well.
Fortnite Season 9 Fortbyte #48 Map
The ‘mountain top throne’ in question is a little bit more of an obscure clue this time. The throne itself isn’t a throne in the traditional sense, but a ‘porcelain throne’. This means you’re looking for a rather elaborate toilet atop a mountain. Northeast of Happy Hamlet and southeast of Polar Peak is an unnamed mountain that sports an expedition outpost. You will find our mountaintop throne at, well, the top of this mountain. The mountain is located at D9 on the main map’s grid.
On the peak of this mountain is a little gnome (pictured above) sitting next to the ‘throne’ (i.e. a toilet) that you simply need to head up to and break with your Vox Pickaxe. The gnome will be destroyed and in its place will spawn Fortbyte #48 for you to collect.
Fortbyte #48 Video Guide
As previously mentioned, this is the third Fortbyte in a row (surpassing the original prediction) that requires an increasingly substansial Battle Pass time investment. We’re approaching the point that even if you complete all your weeklies, but don’t play semi-regularly for your daily challenges and experience gain, you’ll fall behind and be unable to keep up with the Fortbyte hunt. There is always the option of buying any missing tiers (which might possibly be the point behind the system after all), but they’re typically not very good value for money (150 V-bucks per tier is steep relative to the Battle Pass by in price).
This Fortbyte follows on from Tuesday’s Fortbyte #59 and Monday’s Fortbyte #58 , both of which require a decent amount of investment into the Battle Pass to collect.
