Fortnite Season 9 Fortbyte #81: Accessible In The Daytime Near A Mountain Top Cactus Wedge

A prickly byte.

Fortbyte 81 featured

Fortbytes are Epic’s newest addition to the seasonal content offerings aimed at encouraging regular logins (and possibly purchases). The Fortbyte system is an interesting blend of regular weekly challenges mixed with a ‘collectibles’ style scavenger hunt. There are 100 Fortbytes in total and one is released every 24 hours. Each Fortbyte has instructions on where and how you can find it, but some are a bit more difficult to track down that others.

This particular article is designed to assist players in obtaining Fortbyte #81, which is a relatively straightforward ‘treasure hunt’ with a small twist.

You’ll find this Fortbyte on a mesa to the southeast of Paradise Palms, circled red on the above image. This particular mesa can be found on the intersection of I8 and I9 on the main map’s grid.

Atop this mesa you’ll find a bunch of cacti forming a V shape, just south of them will be the Fortbyte, on the southern edge of the mesa. Accessing the Fortbyte is simple enough, you simply need to interact with it while it is ‘daytime’. When a Fortnite game is created, it’ll either be nighttime or daytime, you simply need to head to this spot when the game you are in is set to daytime. This is a fairly interesting addition in the sense that Epic might include more ‘weather/time-of-day’ based Fortbyte challenges in the future, which isn’t something we recall seeing before.

For those interested, we have a masterlist of all the Fortbytes, with accompanying guides for those that require a bit more effort to locate (LINK).
