E3 2018 is upon us, or depending on how you look at it, has been upon us ever since a hapless intern at Walmart Canada pressed the wrong button. Leaks have ravaged this year’s show, meaning that almost all of the big hitters have already been revealed ahead of time. We won’t see as many shocking moments as E3 2016, that’s for sure.
As well as leaks, we’ve also seen a lot of games just being straight up revealed, seemingly so they can soak up some of that E3 buzz without officially being revealed there. This year’s a strange one with Sony even announcing a few games in the week leading up to it. Just about the only shock factor still to consider would be Mother 3 being announced for localisation, but don’t count your chickens on that.
As we head into E3 2018, we’re going to be adding to this guide on all the games, news, and trailers announced so far, as well as dropping in games as they’re revealed at conferences. This is going to be a long one, so prepare some hot chocolate and start dreaming. We aren’t going to add leaks here, just to be the only ones who aren’t talking about them. Twin Mirror
Debuted by Sony, Twin Mirror is a mystery game developed by Dontnod and published by Bandai Namco. There are certainly some Twin Peaks vibes to it, though more “straight” — it’s not going to be Deadly Premonition. It launches next year on PS4, XB1, and PC.
Phantom Doctrine
A turn-based tactical Cold War espionage game (try saying that with a mouth full of biscuits) has a new gameplay trailer that’s sure to appease anyone who has an XCOM itch to scratch. Good Shepherd Entertainment and CreativeForge Games will launch Phantom Doctrine later this year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Fear the Wolves
A battle royale game with a twist (seems like we’re saying that a lot lately), Fear The Wolves released a gameplay trailer ahead of E3 2018. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans are sure to take an interest in this one when it lands on Steam Early Access this summer and consoles later in the year.
Hitman 2
After being leaked by some very diligent code inspectors, Hitman 2 was dropped by IO Interactive and new publisher WB Games in a livestream. It will abandon the episodic format of its 2016 predecessor but will also pick up 47’s iconic briefcase once again. Launches 13th November, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Indivisible
An Indiegogo success story, Indivisible is a beautiful RPG platformer from the minds behind Skullgirls. To celebrate the launch of a new demo for backers, Lab Zero Games released a new trailer to coincide with E3 2018. Indivisible will launch on Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Tetris Effect
No, your water is not laced with acid: it’s just the new game from Tetsuya Mizuguchi and the guys behind Rez Infinite and Lumines. Revealed during one of Sony’s pre-E3 stream, Tetris Effect looks like a very enjoyable trip that will launch on PS4 and PSVR sometime this year with a demo to be released at an unannounced date. Be right back, just going to listen to some Burial.
Persona Localisations
Breathe in: Persona 3: Dancing In Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing In Starlight will be coming to the West on PS4 in 2019, as announced by Sony during one of their pre-E3 livestreams. They’re about as barmy as you would expect from a Persona game and with Persona 5 being one of our favourite games of last year, we can’t wait.
Days Gone Release Date
Delayed PS4 exclusive Days Gone has a new trailer and a new release date. Confirmed by Sony prior to E3, Bend’s post-apocalyptic open-world will be explorable from February 22nd, 2019. We’ve had our eyes on Days Gone since it was announced, so watch this space. Early signs are promising if rough, however.
Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season
Clem’s all grown up and ready to say goodbye in Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season. The last outing of the franchise that made Telltale as beloved as it is today promises to be just as tear-inducing as always when it launches on basically everything on August 14th with a Switch port to follow later. We are not ready for this; we’ve only just dealt with the loss of Lee.
Ghost Giant
From the developers of Fe comes a PSVR game that’s going to appeal to anyone had a lot of kind words to say about Moss. It looks like a total charmer with animals as its characters, so there may be something for Night In The Woods fan to latch on to, too. Comes out for PS4 and PSVR at some point in the future.
Battlefield V
DICE offered a closer look at the game’s multiplayer and also confirmation of a battle royale mode, which drew a hilariously mixed response from fans. It’s almost as if they should just cc Crowbcat in on everything they do.
FIFA 19
A straightforward presentation for the addition of Champions League to the game; not much else was revealed at this point with more updates to come outside of E3.
Origin Access Premier
Effectively EA’s answer to Game Pass, Origin Access Premier is a significant upgrade on the standard Access service as it gives access to new games on day one instead of waiting for them to wind up in the vault. It’s PC only for now and launches this summer sometime.
Jedi: Fallen Order
Set after Revenge and before A New Hope, Respawn’s new Star Wars game will launch in time for Christmas next year. You’d hope.
Unravel Two
Co-op cuteness out right now. Damn shame it isn’t on Switch, though.
Sea of Solitude
A strong favourite of ours from EA Play, Sea of Solitude is a platformer with a gorgeous artstyle and an intriguing hook. When a young girl is turned into a monster, she must find the help of others to become a human again. Look for this promising EA Original next year.
NBA Live 19
Will this be Live’s year to conquer 2K? Absolutely not, but it’s out on September 7th so at least it’s taking part, which is all that matters.
Anthem
Two new trailers and one looped piece of concept art for some reason for Anthem at E3 2018 most likely won’t do enough to dissuade haters. Still, if you liked Destiny and didn’t think it had enough robot suits and exploration, Anthem may be for you. The game also will not have loot boxes.
Star Wars Battlefront II Clone Wars DLC
It’s been a rough ride for Battlefront II, but at least DICE and EA are sticking with it. They announced Clone Wars DLC will be coming to the game in the near future, which also means the ability to play as Grievous and Obi-Wan.

Kingdom Hearts III Release date
It will launch early next year for PS4 and Xbox One, Square Enix announced prior to their conference. It’s a small delay, but one that probably won’t upset those who have already been waiting for so long.
