Prepare the tissues, because this is going to be an emotional one. The final season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, cannily called Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season, will launch on August 14 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 with a Switch version to follow later in the year.

Limited to four episodes instead of the typical five for Telltale, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection is also bundled with the game if you pre-order it digitally, which you can download immediately for PS4 and Xbox One. If you pre-order on June 8th, it will also cost just $19.99.

Here’s the trailer:

And the synopsis:

“Clementine, now a fierce and capable survivor, has reached the final chapter in her journey. After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be her chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping, emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine’s story ends.”

Some of the changes include a switch in perspective to over-the-shoulder (cc: Santa Monica), more freedom to explore, and combat that isn’t scripted. The Final Season will also support 4K and HDR for compatible devices, as well as featuring an artstyle that’s even closer to the comic books.

Personally, I can’t wait to play as Clem one last time. I’ve played all of The Walking Dead to date and loved it all, including A New Frontier, so I am eagerly anticipating needing to punch some walls and drink whisky after I’ve finished it to remind myself that I am a man.
