It’s beginning to look a lot like summer, which means that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a whole host of new fish to catch, including the rather rare Saw Shark.
The Saw Shark isn’t as well known as the rest of the sharks available in the game, but it’s still one of the most valuable and rarest fish in all of Animal Crossing. If this guy and the Hammerhead got together, they might have the start of a decent toolbox.
Here’s everything you need to know to catch the Saw Shark in New Horizons, one of the many new fish for June.

“I caught a saw shark! You could call it a sea saw!”
The Saw Shark is very long and thin, as well as having a saw-like set of teeth.
Saw Shark Location, Time of Day & Size
All of the sharks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be found in the sea, and the Sea Shark is no different. Just like most of the other sharks, the Saw Shark is a nightly creature and will only appear from 4PM-9AM each day.
The Saw Shark is of a similar size (large) to all of the other sharks in the game, but don’t forget to look out for a fin that appears out of the water to distinguish the Saw Shark from all of the other fish.
This may be obvious to some, but you can always craft bait to increase the chances of a spawn.
Saw Shark Blathers Donation
Here’s what Blathers has to tell you about the Saw Shark when you go to donate it:
“Saw sharks got their name from their long head lined with spike-like teeth much like a chain-saw blade. Sensors located below their mouths detect prey as they press their flat bodies against the seabed to search. They will sometimes swing their ‘saws’ wildly amid a school of fish, catching any that are struck.”
Don’t forget to donate to Blathers before you sell it so he can add it to his museum.
Saw Shark Bells Price
The Saw Shark in New Horizons will fetch you 12,000 Bells when sold to Nook’s Cranny due to its rarity and size. This makes it one of the most valuable fish in the whole game, though it is not the most valuable shark there is.
You can also hold onto it until C.J. comes to your island, who will buy it for 20% more than usual for 14,400 Bells.
When Are Saw Sharks Available Until?
All of the sharks in the game hang around from the start of June until the end of September, and the Saw Shark keeps up that tradition. It’s a fairly rare fish, so you may want to craft plenty of fishing rods.
If you can’t catch the shark between those months, don’t forget that you can always lean on time travel to get you back (or forward) to a specific date.
The Sew Shark is one of 80 fish in total in New Horizons to catch if you want to unlock the Golden Fishing Rod.
