Fortnite: How To Get The Tart Tycoon Apple Skin #FreeFortnite

Bad apples need not apply.

Time is running out to play Fortnite the way it is meant to be played on Apple devices. When Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 4 lands, players on iOS devices will be left behind due to the bitter battle between Apple and Epic Games with Fortnite being removed from the App Store. But at least there are freebies like the Tart Tycoon to unlock for free in the #FreeFortnite Cup.

The #FreeFortnite Cup kicks off this Sunday, August 23rd and is intended to be one last celebration of all players across all devices playing Fortnite together. The event will run for four hours with a scoring system as follows:

Active Time – 1 point for every 3 minutes on the BR island
Eliminations – 1 point per Elim
Victory Royale – 10 points for each Victory Royale

Players will be able to earn plenty of rewards by placing well in the #FreeFortnite Cup, which includes a free hat, gaming gear, and the aforementioned Tart Tycoon skin. Tart Tycoon is a parody of Apple, who were also lampooned in the #FreeFortnite short to criticise their business practices.

Qualification requirements vary per region with the hats available for those who finish in the top places in terms of points, whereas the gaming hardware is available to the few hundred who manage to eat the most apples over the course of the #FreeFortnite Cup. Tart Tycoon, meanwhile, can be yours for just racking up ten points within the space of 4 hours during the #FreeFortnite event. There’s no mention of Tart Tycoon coming to the Item Shop at a later date.

Here’s a closer look at the Tart Tycoon skin.

If you score enough points in the #FreeFortnite Cup to qualify for the Tart Tycoon skin, bear in mind that it may take up to a few weeks for the skin to arrive in your locker. In addition, make sure you have 2FA enabled so that your performance will be accepted.

This is all, quite frankly, an utterly bizarre situation. Not only did Epic seem to have an animated short prepared for them being banned by Apple, but it also seems like they had merch, a skin, and even a tournament lined up. It seems like they certainly knew what they were doing when they added a direct way to pay in Fortnite on iOS. Giving away prizes to Fortnite players is likely only going to make players more supportive of their cause.

As for the ongoing battle, there hasn’t been much news of late — it seems like neither will be budging. In fact, Apple clamped down on Epic even further, threatening to remove their developer tools from iOS on August 28th, which will put Unreal-developed games on iOS — like PUBG Mobile — at serious risk.

Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
