Don’t hold your breath just yet, but it looks like Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 will be the first season of Fortnite that ends when it’s supposed to for many, many seasons.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 is scheduled to end on August 27th, 2020. Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 4 will begin on the same day, August 27th.
As for exact times, Epic will usually put the game into downtime from 8AM BST/3AM ET/midnight PT. Fortnite downtime usually lasts anywhere from 1-4 hours for each new season. File sizes for new season updates can be upwards of 10GB.
We’re a bit more assured than usual when it comes to the end of the season due to, of all things, a lawsuit. Epic and Apple are currently embroiled in a more than slightly bitter dispute over Epic breaching the App Store iOS by offering players the chance to pay Epic directly instead of Apple, giving them a 100% cut instead of 70%. Shortly after this move, Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store, leading Epic to lead a campaign against them with #FreeFornite.

As bad as that news is, it looks like some good news has come out of it: Epic are seemingly locking in with the August 26th release date according to the court filings, suggesting that there will be no delays for Season 4.
Fortnite has felt really long-winded since the start of its second chapter, especially as the first two seasons were significantly longer than any that preceded it. Epic has done well to pad out the extensions with additional content for players in the form of challenges and cosmetics, but there’s only so much a single season of Fortnite can entertain its easily bored audience, who have come to expect constant updates and a fresh experience.
As for what you can expect from Season 4 of Chapter 2, apparently it might be the biggest crossover so far with an entire season being dedicated to Marvel. This is according to Hypex, who has an insider at Epic Games.
I've seen some of you guess this already, but yeah Season 4 *MIGHT* be Marvel themed, and Thor & his hammer are gonna be cosmetics (this is via my source)
Also the trailer might start with a girl cornered in some alleyway by armed skins and she gets saved.

This might be a bit over the top in terms of crossover, but we will just have to wait and see.
At this time of writing, there doesn’t seem to be an event lined up ahead of the launch of the new season, which is highly unusual. At the very least, Epic will start sending out cryptic tweets a few days before the new season launch, so expect something to start coming out on either the 23rd or 22nd of August.
Unfortunately, due to the bitter battle between Epic Games and Apple, players on iOS devices will not be able to play Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 4 when it launches with Fortnite being removed from the App Store and no updates being allowed. Before then, though, players can at least compete in the #FreeFortnite Cup for the chance to claim free gaming hardware to play the game on other devices.
That’s about all we know for the end of Season 3 and the start of Season 4 of Fortnite. We will keep you posted and keep this updated as we get more. Don’t forget you still have Week 10 challenges to complete before the new season.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
