The Final Fantasy series is widely appreciated for its captivating stories, breathtaking visuals, and remarkable gameplay loops, but if there’s one they’re infamous for, it’s stretching out plot threads longer than people would like. Final Fantasy 16 is the latest title in the long lineage, and unsurprisingly, it’s the most massive game to date. However, while its scope is humongous, it doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Final Fantasy 16’s world of Valisthea is bustling with side quests that pop up at every corner and adventures that you won’t know of until they hit you. Be that as it may, you should be prepared to spend a long time being logged in. If you’re curious about how many hours or perhaps days to be exact, then here’s how long it’ll take to finish Final Fantasy 16 and achieve a 100% completion rate.

Final Fantasy 16 Story Length

The main story of Final Fantasy 16 will take you anywhere between 30-40 hours to beat. Keep in mind that this time is only for the main story, and completing everything else will nearly double your total playtime. By skipping the cutscenes and rushing through most parts you can trim that down to 25 hours, but you’ll be sacrificing the entirety of the narrative in return, which isn’t worth it considering how much you paid for the game. Besides, AAA titles these days, whether it’s God of War or Hogwarts: Legacy, always wrap up around the 40-hour mark, so you shouldn’t be amazed.

Final Fantasy 16 also has tons of acquirable skills, and without completing side quests, you’ll be missing out on a number of them. The main campaign despite its enormous length won’t help you gather enough resources to top up Clive’s true potential. Side missions are key to avoiding rough sails across the story missions, plus they’re very fun, so definitely give them a chance.

Final Fantasy 16 100% Completion Length

Going for a 100% completionist run in Final Fantasy 16 is a whole other story. The main story unfolds across 50 missions including the prologue, and there are over 70 optional side quests. Playing all the side missions, sitting through every cutscene, and looting all the optional items will easily stretch that time upwards of 65 hours. There are dozens of bosses in-game and even more supporting characters that have you doing odd jobs throughout the course of the game, so time flies when you’re Clive.

For trophy hunters, on the other hand, the final playtime will be way beyond that. The Platinum trophy can only be obtained after completing the main story in New Game Plus as doing that rewards the player with a necessary Gold trophy. That adds another 30 or so hours to the already lengthy playtime you’ll have spent in your first playthrough.

The total time adds up to 100 hours if you’re hell-bent on getting your hands on the sweet Platinum trophy, and all this is still excluding the moments you’ll be busy sightseeing Valisthea, which you should know, will be happening quite often.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now on PS5.
