There’s A Mod For Skyrim To Run At 60FPS On Xbox Series X

Stop right there, modding scum! You've uncapped the framerate, pay a fine to Todd Howard.

One of the biggest benefits of the Xbox Series X is its approach to backwards compatibility, with thousands of playable games available to download and enjoy, oftentimes with boosts to framerate, visuals and resolution. Unfortunately, there are games which feature capped framerates, but in the case of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, there’s a way around it.

How Can I Get Skyrim To Play At 60FPS?

In order to do so, you simply need to download a mod called Uncap FPS via the in-game mod menu. The mod will uncap the game’s framerate from 30FPS to 60FPS, making for a smoother game as a result. You can check out the mod in action for yourself from the tweet below. (Thanks, Pure Xbox.)

Any Downsides To This?

Considering it’s a fan made mod, it’s not officially tested or approved by Bethesda, meaning you could run into a variety of issuing while playing. On top of that, using mods on the Xbox version of Skyrim will disable achievements, so keep that in mind if you want to give this a whirl. With a framerate boost for Fallout 4 on Xbox Series X, and next-gen versions of DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online in the works, perhaps an upgraded Skyrim should be next on the list too.
