From Yakuza’s streets to the alternate timelines of Crash Bandicoot, this month will be a showcase of PlayStation’s variety of games, genres, and experiences that will make a player laugh, cry, and shake their head in bemusement as they play the newest games. Here are the biggest new PS4 and PS5 games that are coming out in March 2021.

5. Yakuza: Like a Dragon | March 2nd, 2021

Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
Publisher: Sega
Platform(s): PS5

Take to the streets of Ijincho as Ichiban Kasuga, a down on his luck Yakuza recently released from prison, and after teaming up with an ex-detective, he gets shot by the family he was once a part of. But, never one to let his spirits die, Ichiban sets out to find out why his family betrayed him, why he was dumped into Ijincho with a counterfeit bill, and also to earn a living on top of all of that.

In a departure from Yakuza’s beat-em-up style, Yakuza: Like a Dragon takes cues from the Dragon Quest series, and focuses more on team-based combat, with summons, weapons, and special moves. But, make no mistake, the story is just as serious as previous entries, and just as intense, even in silly ways. Want to summon lightning to fry your enemies? Just pull out your handy cell phone and reach for the sky.

Releasing on the PS5 on March 2nd, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, will introduce newcomers to a series filled with both mirth and despair, and enjoy a story where Ichiban relearns what it means to have a family not bound by blood or tradition. In addition, PS4 owners of the game will get the PS5 version free of charge.

It’s a blast from the past because Crash Bandicoot is back. A 3D platformer coming to the PS5 on March 12th, Crash Bandicoot 4 is a direct sequel to the third entry.

Following the ending of Crash 3, the villains, Dr. Vortex, Uka Uka, and N. Trophy are all left stranded in a void of space and time, with no way out. Where they remained for decades, trying to escape in any way they could. And in doing so, they create a slight problem for Crash and his sister, Coco. The villains’ actions caused a hole to appear in the space-time continuum, putting all of reality at risk.

In this platformer, take control of Crash, Coco, and an Alternate Tawna, as you jump, climb, spin, and die, die, die again in multiple levels across space and time. From floating pirate ships to voids beyond time, and robot factories, enjoy a variety of levels that will you leave you in tears. Either from laughter or frustration.

Crash Bandicoot 4 is a return to platformers of old in this game coming to the PS5. Like those old games, be prepared to try again and again as you navigate the levels, collect fruit, and extra lives. Like Yakuza, if you have a PS4 version of this game, you can get a free PS5 version.
