Mechanical Weapons were first introduced in Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 6, though they have been known by other names for many years. What are Mechanical Weapons in Fortnite, and how do they work?

Well, basically: Mechanical Weapons are advanced weapons like rifles in the game that reward accuracy, and they’re made from Mechanical Parts. They join Makeshift Weapons and Primal Weapons as the new types of weapon in the game for Season 6.

With a Makeshift Weapon and the aforementioned resource, you can then make yourself a shiny new weapon, as long as you know how to craft.

Here are some of the Mechanical Weapons currently in Fortnite:

– Mechanical Bow
– Pump Shotgun
– Revolver

As you can see, “mechanical” doesn’t have to be in the name for them to be listed as a Mechanical Weapon. The bow is actually the only brand new Mechanical Weapon in Fortnite, and it can then be upgraded into other kinds of bow, such as the Mechanical Shockwave Bow, by combining them with other items in the game.

If you’re wondering how we now have three different weapon types in Fortnite, it’s because The Foundation’s sacrifice in the Zero Crisis event caused all technology on the island to be wiped out, essentially sending the island back to ancient times. That’s one way of justifying such a huge change to the Fortnite meta.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
