Fortnite Season 4 Guide: Week 9 Battle Pass Challenges Walkthrough

Fortnite 4

Reset day is upon us and Week 9 of season 4’s Battle Pass went live a few hours ago. As per usual, you’ll need the Battle Pass (950 V-bucks) to be able to access and complete these challenges and therefore obtain the rewards therein. Don’t fret if you don’t have the Battle Pass yet, all challenges are retroactive, so you can complete these challenges at a later date.

However, we’re on the penultimate week of the season. If you’re still tossing up on whether or not to buy the battle pass, you better have a lot of spare time or some detailed guides (wink wink) to power them all out at this stage of the game.

Below is a list of the seven challenges for week 9 and how to complete them.

Deal damage with explosive weapons to opponents (500 damage)
Standard damage with X weapon type challenge. Standard fare. Grab a grenade launcher, rocket launcher or grenades and go hog wild.

Search chests in Moisty Mire (7 chests)
Your typical ‘search the chests’ challenge we receive each week. This time the location is is the updated Moisty Mire. This should be one of the easier weeks for this type of challenge. Moisty Mire is remotely located (far off centre), has average chest density and a decent total chest count. If you choose a game in which the bus goes nowhere near Moisty Mire and just glide over, you should have an easy time getting this done in about two or three games.

Fortnite shopping cart

Use a shopping cart (1 time)
This is the ‘wildcard’ challenge for the week. Really straightforward, just find a shopping cart (trolley) and interact with it. The difficult part is finding one. I don’t have any strict rules for finding shopping carts, but they do seem to appear most commonly in parking lots. Keep an eye out if you’re in one.

Visit the centre of named locations in a single match (4 times)
This is the replacement for scavenger hunt style challenge for the week. Rather simple in theory, but more difficult in practise. At the centre of each named location, will be a flagstand. Simply approach if and you’ll receive credit. As you’ve probably noted however, getting to four of them without dying once is the real challenge. If you’re looking for some tips or a route to help with this challenge, we have you covered.

Fortnite 1

Follow the treasure map found in Haunted Hills
This is the typical treasure hunt based challenge for week 9. Basically identical to week 1’s treasure challenge; find map, follow map, grab treasure, collect Battle Stars. Like the previous weeks, you can skip straight to the treasure if you happen to know where it’s buried. If searching around doesn’t appeal to you, or want your tiers ASAP, we have you covered.

Shotgun Eliminations (4 kills)
Your kill them with a specific weapon challenge. This week is any gun that is a ‘shotgun’. This includes; the ‘Pump Shotgun’, the ‘Tactical Shotgun’ and the ‘Heavy Shotgun’. Like week 7’s assault rifles, this is one of the easiest permutations that this kind of challenge can present. Shotguns are everywhere and are the reigning kings of CQB (even with the nerfs, they’re still extremely formidable). You need four kills to complete the challenge, which is more than most weapon types. But, it is still less than the assault rifle challenge, while shotguns are just as effective and common. This one should be quick relative to the other challenges of this type.

Eliminate opponents in Anarchy Acres (3 kills)
Your other straightforward kill challenge, but this time based on a location. Identical to every week’s challenge in this category. Anarchy Acres is moderately trafficked (thanks to its location on the map), with a decent amount of loot. It’s not deserted, nor is it swarming with enemies. It hits that nice sweet spot that gives you a decent fighting chance every game, provided you can find a gun.
