Dying Light 2: Treasure Hunt Guide

Dying Light 2 Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt is a side quest in Dying Light 2 that directly follows after The Deserter side quest. Players can unlock it by keeping hold of the “map” that they get from Bart instead of giving it to Meyer.

That map is actually a cipher, basically a puzzle using its own special language that can only be cracked with a translation. Once you take it to Albert, the ship’s librarian, you find out that it is encrypted in Bacon’s Cipher, a unique code that is relayed in a series of B’s and A’s, with five digits signifying one specific letter of the alphabet. For instance, BAAAA becomes R.

Here’s the translation of the digits into letters:

And here’s the encrypted message to crack:

Luckily for you, you don’t have to go through the effort of cracking the Treasure Hunt cipher. It translates to:

MUDDY
GROUNDS
WATER
TOWER
BASEMENT
ZERO THREE
TWO ONE, SIX
SEVEN

The first part is the location of the treasure, Muddy Grounds’ Water Tower Basement. You can find that to the south of the Missy on your map:

This is a good opportunity to clear this facility in Muddy Grounds if you haven’t already, as you can establish a safe zone there, get some XP, and also assign something to either faction for another unlock. Strongly recommend you side with the Peacekeepers until you get the PK Crossbow.

Get to the water tower, then drop down into the basement and into the water. Look for the underwater safe.

Now let’s refer the second part of the translated cipher:

ZERO THREE
TWO ONE, SIX
SEVEN

The Treasure Hunt safe code is 3 21 67.

Enter the code and claim the 2X Remote C4 inside and earn some XP for completing the quest.

Is the reward a bit disappointing considering the lengths you have to go to for it, especially when you can probably just craft Remote C4 yourself at this point in the game? Oh yes.

Dying Light 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
