Xbox One Games with HDR Support: The Full List

Xbox One S

Hey, did you know that your Xbox One S has HDR support for a selection of games? Neither did I!

Having bought the console on a whim because it’s white, I didn’t really look into what benefits the Xbox One S had over the original version, though I did see that side-eye tweet Microsoft made towards the PS4 Pro, which was pretty glorious. It turns out that the newer console has quite a lot going for it, including HDR support, which makes games more colorful; and “pop” more on certain 4K TVs.

HDR (high-dynamic-range) has been used in photography for a long time – you may have even noticed it on your iPhone already. It aims to make whites whiter and blacks blacker, particularly when it’s a darkly lit scene. HDR also introduces a broader range of colours and is focused on bringing added realism to video games.

Although it doesn’t exactly have a broad range of games currently boasting HDR support at the moment, more will follow in the future, according to Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg. HDR also isn’t a gigantic leap forwards in terms of sheer graphical quality, though it’s a nice little change.

Here are all the Xbox One games currently with HDR support and those that have plans to bring it in the future. A nice (if short) mix of AAA and indie games.

Battlefield 1
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Final Fantasy XV
– Forza Horizon 3
Gears of War 4
Hitman
– Mass Effect Andromeda
NBA 2K17
– Pure Chess Ultra
ReCore (to be added)
Resident Evil 7
– The Elder Scrolls Online
– World of Tanks

Looking for more bang for your Xbox buck? Check out this list of all the games currently available on the console exclusive EA Access. Don’t have a 4K TV to go with your Xbox One S? The Samsung UN55KU6300 55-Inch might be one of the best options out there for relatively cheap. Don’t even have an Xbox One S? They’re pretty affordable right now.
