Noragami: Season 3 – Everything You Should Know

Noragami
Noragami

Adachitoka’s Noragami had two seasons in total that were animated by Studio Bones, and now, it’s been over six years since we last saw Yato and the crew on screen. It’s a sad fact that Studio Bones has been fixated all this time pursuing multiple seasons of anime like My Hero Academia, Bungou Stray Dogs, and Mob Psycho 100, though all three are amazing, while fans asking for a gem like Noragami: Season 3 have been left in the dark.

It’s very weird that Noragami: Season 3 still hasn’t arrived, as the previous season Noragami: Aragoto was the most watched anime, only lagging behind One-Punch Man during its fall release. Neither have rumors surfaced nor has Bones announced the continuation, so with that in mind, here’s when you should expect Noragami: Season 3 to arrive.

When Is Noragami: Season 3 Coming Out?

Alas, there’s been no word by Bones on when the anime will arrive, but if an announcement were to happen, it’d be an unexpected one. At the earliest, you could see Noragami: Season 3 release sometime in 2024.

The reason why Noragami: Season 3 still hasn’t happened is because the manga takes long breaks which sometimes span over a year. This leads to barely 4 chapters being released a year, and due to that, the interest in the series has declined steeply since Season 2 aired in 2015.

Sales, profitability, and the general audience being interested in other new anime right now haven’t helped either, so considering all that, Noragami: Season 3 seems to be nothing more than an idea right now.

What Is Noragami: Season 3 About? (Spoiler Alert)

Noragami translates to stray god, which is exactly what Yato is, an eccentric minor god who grants wishes for 5 yen so that he may one day be worshiped by all. Noragami: Aragoto covered the entire Bishamonten Arc, in which Ebisu reincarnated as a child, and Yato and Bishamon put the bad blood between them to rest.

The manga has tons of chapters left, enough to span over two to three more seasons. Evidently, Noragami: Season 3 will start off with the Sakura Arc. In this arc, you’ll see Yuki help Yato in becoming a god of fortune who helps people, while Hiyori learns more about Yato’s past.

Which Studio Is Making Noragami: Season 3?

It’s hard to guess which studio will end up making Noragami: Season 3, partly because Bones hasn’t touched the anime in many years. Them animating it would make sense as they’ve carried the series so far.

But as Bones has shown no signs of continuing the anime, it wouldn’t be a surprise if another studio ended up helming the project.

Where Will Noragami: Season 3 Be Aired?

The first two seasons of Noragami were licensed by Crunchyroll, so it’s pretty much confirmed that Noragami: Season 3 will also stream there. Funimation has also been absorbed into Crunchyroll, and Netflix doesn’t own the license, so Crunchyroll seems to be the only option.

Although chances look grim for Noragami: Season 3, many anime have risen from their graves a decade later, so for now we’d say never say never.
