Since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first announced during the PlayStation September 2021 Showcase, Insomniac has slowly been teasing us with an abundance of new and returning characters. Alongside these superheroes and villains, new voices are roaring in the anticipated sequel, some with established roles embedded in other popular franchises.

With that in mind, let’s delve into who voices who and uncover why they are the perfect fit for the webheads’ next adventure with a look at the cast for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Peter Parker – Yuri Lowenthal

The web-slinger himself is a difficult suit to fit into when the game’s success depends on such a pivotal character. Luckily, voice actor Yuri Lowenthal is returning from the game’s predecessor, Marvel’s Spider-Man, in which Yuri proved he could handle the joke-cracking superhero.

He flawlessly captures a wiser, more experienced Spider-Man while also showing the personal pain the character endures during the more climactic scenes. Yuri has also performed as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

Miles Morales – Nadji Jeter

Swinging alongside Peter is Insomniac’s second in command, Miles Morales, voiced by the more upbeat-sounding Nadji Jeter. He perfectly portrays the younger version of Spider-Man, who has a lot to learn but is also not afraid to do his own thing in his style, as seen in Marvel’s Miles Morales.

Nadji has portrayed Miles in a variety of media, such as Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, and even an animated Spider-Man TV series that spanned from 2017 to 2020.

Mary Jane Watson – Laura Bailey

Another returning character from Marvel’s Spider-Man is the talented Laura Bailey, known for her impressive works as Abby in The Last of Us Part II, Kait in Gears of War 4/5, and Nadine in the Uncharted series to name a few.

Her performance in a supporting role in Marvel’s Spider-Man helped to amplify MJ and Peter’s relationship, as both Laura and Yuri bounced off each other with intriguing chemistry. With the symbiote altering Peter’s personality to a more blunt and darker tone, there will be tension between the two characters, and with the skills that Laura possesses, it will no doubt be an emotional ride for all Spidey fans.

Venom – Tony Todd

Venom has been portrayed by many actors, from the talented Topher Grace in a more controversial take on the symbiote to Tom Hardy in the more recent duology Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. This time, Tony Todd is taking on Insomniac’s version of the fan-favourite black goo alien.

Tony is perfect for the role, as his previous works, Candyman (1992), voice actor for Vortigaunts in Half-Life: Alyx, and his position as director in Layers of Fear 2, have proven his skills in horror, making him a prime candidate for delivering a terrifying villain.

Kraven the Hunter – Jim Pirri

One of the newest additions to the cast of Spider-Man 2, Kraven is an intimidating hunter fused with an equally intimidating-sounding voice actor, Jim Pirri. He’s known for Birgir in God of War: Ragnarök, Captain Benjamin Mathius in the Dead Space remake, Flambe in Return to Monkey Island, and a plethora of others across the gaming industry.

He’s a man of many talents, as he can be the power-hungry, self-righteous businessman one minute, then a hilarious Gondolier in Penguins of Madagascar the next. It’s safe to say his new role is far from the latter, as he stretches his talents to potential new heights. Fans are eager to see Insomniac’s version of a villain that hasn’t seen much of the limelight until now.

Norman Osborn – Mark Rolston

Norman is a perennial character from the previous two games voiced by none other than Mark Rolston, an actor involved in some of cinema’s best, such as Bogs Diamond from Shawshank Redemption, Private Drake from Aliens, and Agent Russ in Rush Hour.

Norman looks to play a vital role in the story threads that surround Venom and Harry, as at the end of the first game, we see him standing beside his symbiote-infested son Harry, who’s floating unconsciously inside a tank.

 Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Supporting Cast

We can assume, given the teasers shown in Kraven’s reveal trailer, that more voice actors from the previous games, such as Brian Bloom as Taskmaster and Erica Lindbeck as Black Cat, will be added to the cast list once the game fully releases, but as of right now, they are not confirmed.

The remaining voice actors that play supporting roles and have been officially announced are as follows:

Jonah Jameson – Darin De Paul

Rio Morales – Jacqueline Pinol

Ganke Lee – Griffin Puatu

Vijay – Krishna Kumar

Henry – Andrew Lee

Martin Li – Stephen Oyoung

Additional Voices – Nathaniel Kweku

It’s interesting to see Martin Li, Ganke Lee, Rio Morales, and J. Jonah Jameson’s classic voice actors and superhuman icons return as the two worlds of Peter Parker and Miles Morales collide. The remaining voice actors play characters that we have little to no information on but should be welcomed additions to what appears to be an epic franchise instalment.
