Tokyo Revengers took time traveling and gang wars to create one of the most successful anime in recent years. In April 2023, Tokyo Revengers: Season 2 ended after 13 episodes, and now a third season is on the way. Still, Season 3’s release date is currently unknown, so you may have to wait a while. If you’re desperate for more Tokyo Revengers, watching similar anime might be better for now.

Erased, a.k.a. Boku dake ga Inai Machi, has several similarities with Tokyo Revengers. Its story revolves around Satoru Fujinuma, a 29-year-old who can go back in time after experiencing a phenomenon he calls Revival. After getting wrongfully accused of murdering someone close to him, Satoru goes back 18 years into the past to prevent the murder, which he finds out is connected to a series of abductions.

Based on the premise, you can already tell Erased is an anime like Tokyo Revengers, minus all the gang-related themes. Both anime deal with time travel, and both main characters’ motives are the same since Takemichi and Satoru want to save someone dear to them.

Steins; Gate follows a self-proclaimed mad scientist, Rintaro Okabe, and his friends who accidentally discover a way to send messages to the past through a microwave. If you loved the time travel concepts in Tokyo Revengers, you can’t go wrong with Steins;Gate. The latter executes time travel exceptionally well with a more established plot. It’ll also give you the same thrill with its plot twists and difficulties that the protagonist will face.

Link Click is an underrated Chinese time travel anime that follows Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang. After high-fiving each other, Cheng Xiaoshi can travel back in time to the moment the photo was taken and assume the identity and memories of the photographer. Meanwhile, Lu Guang can see what happens within 12 hours of the photo being captured.

There’s no doubt that the time traveling in Link Click will take you back to the same thing in Tokyo Revengers. Even the activation of time travel is quite similar, with Tokyo Revengers having the handshake and Link Click with the high-five. The only difference is that in Link Click, the two main characters only have 12 hours to work with, and they also try to leave the past unchanged.

91 Days deals with organized crime almost the same way Tokyo Revengers did. The way Angelo infiltrated the Vanetti crime family is also reminiscent of Takemichi joining the Tokyo Manji Gang. Despite the lack of time travel, 91 Days has the delinquent fights, great artwork, and emotional moments that Tokyo Revenger has.

 

10. Gangsta

Gangsta dives us into another crime-ridden city in the form of Ergastulum. In this city, Worick and Nicolas, known together as “Benriya,” are two handymen who take care of dirty jobs that the police nor the mafia can’t handle. When a police officer comes to them with a job, the two will face a challenge that’s way more than they bargained for.

Like other anime on this list, Gangsta does a great job of immersing us in the criminal world. Its depiction of violence, loyalty, and dangerous groups captures a similar vibe to Tokyo Revengers. Although the two anime have different plots, Gangsta will give an enjoyable experience with some of the Tokyo Revengers’ essence.
