The winter 2023 anime line-up has finally concluded, and there’s no denying it was better than we could’ve imagined. Blue Lock, Bungou Stray Dogs: Season 4, and Tokyo: Revengers: Season 2 are particular highlights of why things went spectacularly well, and fortunately enough, the first two have already been renewed, but what about Tokyo Revengers: Season 3?

Right after the second season’s finale aired on Disney+, the franchise’s official website confirmed that Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 has entered production and that the studio hopes to put it out very soon. A handful of things were also revealed including the plot, so here’s an overview of what you’ve missed.

When Is Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 Coming Out?

Although Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 is in the works, a release date for the anime’s return hasn’t been revealed. A short teaser trailer for the next arc is out right now, and that’s the way to go if you want to get amped for the new season.

The second season aired a little over a year after it was announced, and since Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 is well under development, chances are high that you’ll be seeing Takemichi again as early as Summer 2024.

What Is Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 About? (Spoiler Alert)

Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 is being marketed as the “Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc”, so it’s obvious that the Tenjiku Arc is coming up. After years apart, Mikey and Takemichi cross paths again, and things aren’t like they once used to be.

A bunch of stuff goes wrong like it usually does, and Naoto Tachibana ends up killing Mikey. The Tokyo Manji Gang inevitably reaches its doom, and most of its members meet the same fate as Mikey. On seeing his friends being gunned down, Takemichi firstly time-travels once again to prevent the death of his friends, and secondly, he cries for hours on end, befitting his alias Crybaby Hero.

Which Studio Is Making Tokyo Revengers: Season 3?

The Tenjiku Arc is one of the best parts of the story, and for some, it may just be the best in the entire manga due to the sheer amount of chaos in it. The good news is that the studio hasn’t changed, so Liden Films will be animating Tokyo Revengers: Season 3.

Liden Films’ currently doubling down on several other anime, especially the highly anticipated Goblin Slayer: Season 2 which is scheduled to arrive later in 2023. But despite being cooped up with these projects, Liden Films won’t be compromising on the quality of Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 since that’s clear after watching the teaser’s insane visuals.

Where Will Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 Be Aired?

For now, there’s no word on where Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 will be streaming after release. The anime originally aired on Crunchyroll, but somehow Disney+ and Hulu managed to snag the rights to the second season right under.

The impression at the moment is that Tokyo Revengers: Season 3 will air on Disney+ and Hulu exclusively. That’s terrifying to hear for some as both services are available in select few regions, so hopefully, Crunchyroll takes back the show for Season 3 or Disney broadens their service.
