Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game about many things, but soon it will apparently also be a very chill Nightmare on Elm Street sequel in which you visit other player’s islands.

This fascinating addition will allow you to jump into bed (which also gives purpose to beds) and let you visit other players in a dream, presumably without them needing to have their gates open. This almost certainly means that you won’t be able to do anything while you’re there, it’s just going to be so you can show off your island and people can do the same for you.

The new update will also introduce a new NPC by the name of Luna, a tiara’d anteater who may or not be from Twin Peaks. It’s likely that you will only be able to meet her within the dream world. There is a gyroid next to you in the bed in the dream world, so who knows what that means.

One quick thing to note: you will need an active Nintendo Online membership to visit other players while sleeping. Will Nintendo make their network better for this update? In your dreams.

This new dream mechanic is just part one of three major updates planned for Summer Update – Wave 2, which we already know will feature fireworks. The big update is planned for July 30th.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. From our review:

“New Horizons is a great continuation of an already fantastic series of games, and paying back Tom Nook’s loan has never been so fun.”
