The girls with guns genre is a little underrepresented in anime. The only noteworthy additions that come to mind include Black Lagoon and Ghost in the Shell, but recently, Lycoris Recoil has become the center of widespread popularity because of its eccentric take on the genre. Its perfect mix of color, action, and emotions made it a rapid hit, and though the anime finished airing not long ago, demand for a Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 has already gotten out of hand.
The anime’s studio, A-1 Pictures, has acknowledged how well the show performed, resultantly, they’ve announced that a new project is in the works. While they haven’t confirmed whether it’s the highly anticipated Lycoris Recoil: Season 2, you can rest easy knowing that the anime will be continuing.
When Is Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 Coming Out?
Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 does not have a release date. A-1 Pictures is working on something new for the anime, and we’ve received a teaser for what’s next. However, it remains unclear if it’s a sequel season, movie, or perhaps even an OVA, but you can bet we’ll find out soon enough.
Even among Summer 2022’s brilliant line-up which featured the likes of Call of the Night, and Classroom of the Elite: Season 2, Lycoris Recoil managed to snag the top spots consistently thanks to its engaging story, so it isn’t a wonder why there’s already news of a continuation. It might be a while before we finally find out what that is exactly, but one thing’s for sure, we haven’t yet seen the last of the show.
What Is Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)
You might not believe it, but the anime is actually an original story made by A-1 Pictures and mangakas Spider Lily and Asaura. Since the anime isn’t based on a manga as per the usual routine, there’s no way of knowing where the story heads next in Lycoris Recoil: Season 2.
If there’s anything to go on regarding what the next season could be about, then the teaser trailer did heavily focus on Takina and Chisato. Even the tagline reads “The story of the two will never end”, so judging from that it’ll be some sort of an emotional roller coaster ride with both of the main LycoReco girls at the heart of it.
Which Studio Is Making Lycoris Recoil: Season 2?
Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 will be made by A-1 Pictures. The anime is an original project produced and animated by the studio. Different mangaka and artists are involved in the project, but it’s still A-1 Pictures that’s officially running the show.
The studio has created more than 200 anime projects in its lifetime, many of which are original works including Darling in the Franxx, Occult Academy, and Anohana. Surprisingly, with a new Lycoris Recoil anime project in development, this will be among the rare few times they are continuing an original story beyond its first season, so expect major quality improvements.
Where Will Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 Be Aired?
You’ll be able to watch Lycoris Recoil: Season 2 on Crunchyroll when it starts airing.
Crunchyroll is also the only platform streaming the first season of the anime globally. The show is on Netflix too, however, it’s limited to those living in Japan. The lack of accessibility is alarming, but since Crunchyroll is a very large service and available almost everywhere, you should have no trouble finding the second season once it’s out.
