Inscryption Cabin Puzzles
Inscryption Cabin Puzzles

There’s no doubt that Inscryption is filled with secrets, mysteries and easter eggs. The starting cabin exemplifies this to a tee with a slew of secrets and puzzles that can both distract and aid the player in their game. It may be small and claustrophobic, but it can still be possible to miss secrets, so we’ve decided to shine some light on the cabin’s darker corners.

Here are all the main secrets of the cabin in Inscryption:

Skull
Wolf Figurine
Three Candles
Chest
Dagger
Green Blob Head
Safe
Painting
Clock
Hammer, Wand, and Rulebook

And here’s everything you need to know about each secret in Inscryption’s cabin.

Skull

Behind the mysterious captor, players will find a cupboard with two items. The first item is the skull, which holds golden teeth that can be taken and used on the playing table. Every time players either defeat a boss or respawn, the skull will get a refill of its teeth.

Wolf Figurine

Next to the skull, players will find a caged wolf figurine. Though at a glance it may not seem like much, it’s critical for helping the player escape the cabin — read about it in our clock puzzle guide.

Three Candles

To the right of the skull and wolf figurine stands another cupboard that supports a massive puzzle chest and attached to that chest are three candles. If players cumulatively put out the light on these candles, the smoke will gather in the glass cup above and produce a secret card for players to use, Greater Smoke.

Chest

Most secrets will give the player additional resources or cards for use in their card game adventures with the adversary-in-darkness. None exemplify this more so than the chest, where players can solve a total of four puzzles to unlock drawers that hold useful rewards. You can see our chest puzzle guide for greater detail.

Dagger

Moving further right from the chest, you will see a wooden machine with a squirrel figurine holding a golden dagger. This dagger is essential to getting out of the cabin, but the cost of using it is not for the faint of heart.

Green Blob Head

Probably the most useless but also the strangest secret, while adventuring and stepping into a pack item refill location, players can happen upon a jar with a green disembodied head of blob. This one is more of an easter egg for when the player gets out of the cabin, but it definitely breaks up the crushing darkness of the cabin.

Safe

Moving past the door you will see a big metal safe. The safe is one of the first few puzzles players will encounter as it holds essential items that will help progress the narrative. You can read about it in detail in our safe puzzle guide.

Painting

On the wall to the right of the safe, players will find a painting, which at times will show a card battlefield, as well as a number of cards set in a particular position. If players in any combat encounter are able to match the image on this painting, they will receive an item that can give them a small change or buff in the adventures.

Clock

Right behind the player’s seat at the playing table, you may notice a cuckoo clock. This secret has two stages, with the second one requiring a multi-step process to unlock. If anything, this is the most important secret that will help the player succeed in their escape from the cabin.

Wand, Hammer, and Rulebook

To the left of the playing area, you will see a cupboard that holds a big rulebook describing all the various card effects players will encounter. Above it, a wand and hammer are prominently displayed but they’re inaccessible as they’re nailed to the wall, foreshadowing what comes after the cabin.

Just like the game itself, the cabin is a mystery box with a seemingly endless supply of puzzles and curiosities to discover in its dark corners. This should teach players to keep their wits about them and mind open for when they are able to break free of their captor’s dark delights.

Inscryption is available on PC.
