Time to wade through some swamps and then immediately die!

After graduating from Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, Hunt: Showdown is finally coming to the PlayStation 4 today (February 18th) after previously being slightly pushed back from its November release window.

The innovative multiplayer shooter that shares some DNA with Escape From Tarkov sees you playing as a bounty hunter who must track down fiendish enemies and kill them before extracting for the reward. Or, you could let someone else do the hard work and then kill them as they attempt to make the escape. You gotta do what you gotta do sometimes.

With a brilliantly punishing permadeath feature and an unforgettable visual style, Hunt: Showdown is no doubt going to go down a storm on the PlayStation 4. Just prepare for pain if you want its Plat.

Hunt: Showdown Synopsis

Hunt: Showdown Reviews

At this time of writing, there is no overall score for Hunt: Showdown on PS4, but its Xbox One version currently sits on a 76 on Metacritic. Its PC version, meanwhile, scored a very decent 81. As for ourselves, we gave the PC version of the game an 8/10, praising its unique hook and nerve-racking tension.

Will Hunt: Showdown Come To Switch?

Honestly, we would be very surprised if Hunt: Showdown ever came to Switch, just because Crytek have never worked with a Nintendo platform before, as well as the fact that the game has had to be compromised a fair bit to work on PS4 and Xbox One.

They would have to pare it down significantly, you’d feel, to get Hunt to run on the Switch, at which points the things like it’s incredible lighting and creature design would be hurt. Audio is also a huge part of the game, particularly in-game chat. With Nintendo not being too bothered about making in-game chat easy, that’s another bit of Hunt magic that might be lost.

That said, we’ve learned to never say never when it comes a Switch port of anything. Few could have predicted we’d get The Witcher 3, and yet here we are.

Hunt: Showdown is also out now for Xbox One and PC.
