Fox Eager To Remind You There’s More Alien Games Coming

The Alien: Blackout backlash prompted a response from Fox.

Alien Blackout

After announcing Alien: Blackout, a new game starring Alien: Isolation star Amanda Ripley, would be a mobile only title, Fox suffered a backlash akin to the Diablo: Immortal fiasco from a few months ago. We’ll say it again, because it’s still relevant: “Do you guys not have phones?”

With many fans expecting a follow-up to Creative Assembly’s blockbuster horror title, the news of a new mobile game did not go down well. The announcement video of FoxNext’s new venture has over 9.3K dislikes on YouTube and more than a few angry comments.

This outcry from the fans has prompted the PR company responsible for Blackout, FortySeven, to issue a statement to multiple media outlets: “We wanted to reach out to clarify that Alien: Blackout is a standalone game that shares Amanda Ripley as a main character but is not related to or a sequel of Isolation.”

Futhermore, the official Alien Twitter account sent out a tweet a few days ago letting players know that there’s more than just Blackout in the works.

We can guess from the hashtag “#ReadPlayWATCH” that there will be some other forms of entertainment set in the Alien universe soon, which could be a new book, or a companion app for Blackout filled with various media content. We also know that developers Cold Iron Studios are working on an MMO shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe, so if you’re disappointed by the Blackout announcement, just know there’s more to come.
