Fortnitemares is here (after a few teething problems relating to stress on Epic’s servers) and has brought with it significant changes to the Fortnite island. We have new weapons, zombies, and even some Fortnitemares challenges to unlock special cosmetics. Part 1’s challenges have just been released and they include one that asks you to dance in front of different gargoyles.
The gargoyle locations aren’t immediately obvious — you’d think there would be one in Haunted Hills, but no. They’re scattered across the map in weird nooks and crannies, meaning that it’s quite unlikely that you will be able to get them all in one go. Potentially three matches, which you can also spend shooting zombies as you can complete two challenges with one stone as it were.
To complete the challenge, you just need to stand in front of (or relatively close to) a gargoyle and use any dance emote. You need to complete five in total, making it the trickiest Fortnitemares challenge so far, but it gets easier if you follow our handy map and guide.
Dance In Front Of Different Gargoyles – Gargoyles Map
As you can see, they’re all fairly spread out across the map. We managed to find six in total, though there’s no doubt more. Bear in mind that you only need to find five gargoyles altogether, however.
Haunted Castle Gargoyle Location
You can find this gargoyle chilling right underneath the castle: remember to keep an ear out for their weird jingle. The Haunted Castle is a fairly well-trafficked area, so be careful if you’re trying to track down the gargoyle here. B2 on the map.
Viking Village Gargoyle Location
TViking Village (remember when you could barely move here without getting a fight?) is one of the most chilled places you can find a gargoyle, who is just chilling in the biggest house near the back entrance. A good spot to start, perhaps: you can use the Rifts or just parachute to the next location once you’ve danced here. Find it at B6 on the map.
Tilted Towers Gargoyle Location
This strictly isn’t in Tilted Towers, but it’s the nearest named location to the gargoyle. Cross the stream from Tilted Towers, climb the medium-sized mountain with plenty of ridges and find the gargoyle resting with a chest beneath him. A pretty weird placement, this one. Find it at E6 on the map.
Flush Factory Gargoyle Location
Again, not strictly in the named location, but pretty damn close. Make a beeline for Flush Factory (the biggest whipping boy of the Fortnite map) and then make your way to the top of the mountain that’s directly north of it. You can also land at the disco to it east and loot up first in peace if you want to be better prepared. Boogie at the gargoyle in D9.
Uninviting Umbrella Gargoyle Location
An unnamed location (that I have just given a terrible name) is another place on the Fortnite map where you can find a gargoyle. It’s a pretty distinctive spot sandwiched more or less between Lazy Links and Pleasant Park — the fact that it’s shaped like an umbrella doesn’t hurt, either. Make your way over here, go down the ramp into the mine area, smash some walls, and then dance in front of the fairly well hidden gargoyle. Find it at E3 on the map.
Tomato Temple Gargoyle Location
Because where better to have a creepy ornament than in a cult-based setting, right? You can find the gargoyle in Tomato Temple by dropping to its lowest “floor” and finding it more or less in the dead center. For further reference, it’s more or less to the very slight west of the house and at the foot of one of the sets of stairs leading up to the temple itself. Jive on down to G4 on the map.
Once you’ve completed this and the rest of the challenges for Fortnitemares’ first part, you will unlock a little emote to coincide with Halloween. The next part lands in the next three days, so we’ll be sure to free ourselves from Red Dead Redemption 2 to type up a quick guide for you.
