Black Myth: Wu Kong Looks Absolutely Incredible

Here's 13 minutes of hype.

Black Myth game

Game Science Studio, a Chinese indie developer, has revealed 13 minutes of footage for their upcoming project, the action adventure game Black Myth: Wu Kong. It’s another game based on the classic Journey To The West tale, with players taking control of the Monkey King and utilising his various transformations and abilities, except, this actually looks good. Check out the footage below.

Naturally, the gameplay footage is recorded from a pre-alpha, work-in-progress build, but the foundation is there for an absolutely incredible adventure. Black Myth utilises Unreal Engine 4, but it really feels like it’s being pushed to its limits here. The boss fight with the giant Werewolf looking creatures, with its fur catching the moonlight, is utterly stunning, and the gameplay looks great to boot. If anything, this looks way better than the Monkey King: Hero Is Back game from last year.

No release date has been given for Black Myth: Wu Kong, with many speculating that it’s still a couple of years from release. The developers have stated on their official website that the game will release as a paid title, and it’ll launch when it’s good and ready. They’re also hiring for a number of positions to work on the project, and they’re aiming for a release on PC and consoles, with streaming platforms like Stadia not ruled out.
