The PS5’s Price Might Have Leaked Ahead Of Time

Thanks, Carrefour.

If a quickly pulled listing from the French retailer Carrefour is to be believed, the prices for both versions of the PS5 have been revealed. The listings were spotted by PhonAndroid (and reported on by GamesRadar+), who revealed that the PS5 would cost €499, while the discless Digital Edition would cost €399.

Those price points would suggest that the PS5 and Digital Edition would cost £450 /$600 and £400/$500 respectively. It’s a similar price point to the previous generation’s launch, which would be good news for anyone looking to invest in a brand new console this Christmas.

Obviously, this listing isn’t the smoking gun proof that the PS5 will only cost £450, but as GamesRadar+ noted, the fact that the listing disappeared so quickly has created an unintentional Streisand Effect, lending the price more validity. It’s also worth noting that this price is roughly what analysts are expecting from the PS5 launch.

Personally, as someone who is terrified of a next-gen console costing £600, a £450 PS5 seems pretty reasonable to me. I’d even consider the digital version at that price, if the price of digital games wasn’t more expensive anyway, which you know it probably will be. What are your thoughts on these potential PS5 prices? Sound off in the comments.
