Animal Crossing: New Horizons: May Day Maze Guide

You will have to rove quite a bit for this one.

From now (May 1st) until May 7th, Animal Crossing: New Horizons can embark on a special May Day Tour that will give them some rewards for taking part. Before that, though, you will need to learn how to navigate the May Day maze.

When you log in, Isabelle will direct you to Tom Nook in Resident Services, who will inform you that there is a May Day Ticket waiting for you at the airport.

Bear in mind that you this is the only May Day Ticket you will get, so you better “complete” everything there is to do on the special island before you depart.

Make your way over to the airport and talk to Orville at the desk, who will inform you that he has the ticket. Redeem it and then after giving over your entire inventory (don’t worry, you will get it back), Wilbur will fly you to the May Day Tour island where the maze awaits.

Wilbur will then inform you that you must navigate the maze to reach the other side where a mysterious figure awaits. You won’t be able to buy any tools from Wilbur, so the first thing you should do is pick up the shovel on the floor. Don’t forget to just hold in the direction you need to jump over a river.

From here, it’s a case of using your shovel on everything you can (including bushes) to make progress through the maze until you are eventually able to find an apple, or whatever fruit that spawns.

After eating the apple, you will then be able to lift any trees out of the ground with your shovel. You will need to eat quite a few apples for the path forward to uncover, which will eventually lead you to an iron nugget.

Make sure you collect all of the tree branches as well and then make your way over to the DIY workbench. With all of the right materials, you can then create a flimsy axe to then make a “proper” axe. Crafting this axe will allow you to chop down all the trees that are in your way at the very end of the maze.

Once that’s done, you will then enter a clearing where Rover awaits: one of the most popular characters in Animal Crossing.

After a brief chat, he will give you Rover’s briefcase for completing the challenge before then informing you that you will see him again down the line.

Now that you’ve managed to escape the maze, go around the outer circumference of the clearing all the way down the east and west beaches and then collect all of the Bell Vouchers you can find. Selling these at Nook’s Cranny will net you 27000 Bells in total.

You are unfortunately unable to keep any of the things you dug up in the maze, which is a shame.

If you get stuck at any point or any of your tools break, remember to use the app on your phone to reset your progress.

You have until May 7th to get this maze and the May Day activity completed. Have fun.
