Alone in the Dark | Pieces Interactive | March 20th, 2024 | PC, PS5, Xbox Series |
As you explore the creepy mental institution that is Derceto Manor while playing Alone In The Dark, you’ll find a few areas that initially seem inaccessible. Some of these areas are blocked by massive chains that you’ll need a big pair of bolt cutters in order to break. Finding the bolt cutters in Derceto can be a bit of a nightmare though, considering Derceto Manor doesn’t seem to obey the regular laws of time and space. If you’re struggling to find the bolt cutters in Alone In The Dark, this is the information you need to know.
In order to find the bolt cutters, you’ll need to progress to chapter 2 as either Emily or Edward. Once you’ve reached Chapter 2, enter the second room of the library in Derceto Manor, and try to exit the door leading towards the conservatory. As you do this, the room will transform into an inferno with bats/crows/flying black things swirling around above your head. Also, the door you just tried to open is now chained up. I know, very spooky.
Instead of panicking or looking for the nearest supply of water buckets, simply turn around and head towards the far right corner of the room. On a table in teh corner, you’ll find the bolt cutters, which you can then use to open the door that’s been locked. Once you open the door, the flames will disappear and you’ll just be left questioning your own mental state. After obtaining them, the bolt cutters can then be used in different areas of Derceto Manor and beyond, such as the groundskeeper’s shed in the garden, which will give you the rubber hose needed to flood the well in the garden and retrieve the plate piece.
Alone In The Dark is available now on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
