Playing a hardcore action RPG like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty comes with a lot of agonizing choices to make when it comes to building your character. Do you want to focus on having a massive health pool, or would you rather become a glass cannon, destroying enemies quickly but dying at even just a grazing blow? When you’re making choices like that, sometimes you can feel like you’re heading down the wrong path, or you’d just like to see how another build would work, but without being able to respec your character, that’s hard to do.

Here’s everything you need to know about how you can respec your character in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

What Is Respeccing?

Respeccing is the act of completely changing up your stats so that you can completely remake your entire character’s abilities. While it’s not a feature that’s available in every RPG, it’s usually there in most Soulslike games as a way of allowing players to experiment with new weapons, armor and abilities without having to create a brand new character from scratch. Fortunately for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty players, you can respec your character, but you’ll need to put in a bit of work to get there first.

How To Respec Your Character In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

In order to respec your character’s abilities in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you need to first complete the first Battlefield of Part 3, “In Search of the Immortal Wizard”, in which you rescue Zuo Ci from being stuck on a mountain. After returning to the Hidden Village hub area with Zuo Ci, you’ll be able to visit him in his hut, which is near to the area’s Battle Flag.

Inside the hut, you can speak to Zuo Ci and perform one of several actions, including respeccing your character’s abilities. You’ll then be able to move your ability points around across the five different “phases”: Wood, Earth, Fire, Metal and Water. The respeccing service is completely free for players to use, meaning you can tinker as much as you like to create the build that works for you, or simply stick all your points into Earth in order to stop yourself from being over encumbered.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
