If anything this is the most colorful of the factions when daemons from every god march side by side, doing their master’s bidding. Here’s how they play.

Here are the main features of the Daemons of Chaos in Total War: Warhammer 3:

Daemonic Glory
Reign of Chaos
Army

And here’s everything you need to know about Daemons of Chaos.

Daemonic Glory

The centerpiece character of this faction is the Daemon Prince – a unique lord that can take on any name as it’s supposed to be your avatar fulfilling plans in favor of Chaos. This Daemon Prince lord holds the entire faction together with the Daemonic Glory system.

Daemons of Chaos have five paths worth of Daemonic Glory, one for each Chaos god: Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Nurgle, along with Undivided. When players do battle, complete quests, and tackle random events the Daemon Prince will be awarded an amount of glory for each path that accumulates over time.

When the faction takes over a settlement, the Prince can dedicate it to a specific god, which will grant additional glory for that god, as well as lock that settlement to building structures themed around that specific Chaos God. This way players can specialize provinces to work for one god or instead create a synergetic patchwork of settlements where the normally disparate daemonic forces and structures work together for a greater purpose.

As players accrue Daemonic Glory in each path, it will unlock a variety of useful abilities including body parts, units, strategic benefits, and faction mechanics. There’s a huge array of body parts from which to choose and the Daemon Prince can swap body parts and weapons at will on the campaign map, in turn changing its appearance. You can really go nuts in creating your Daemon Prince, be it a themed build for one of the gods or taking the best pieces of each one to create the perfect fighting machine.

With additional Daemonic Glory, the Daemons of Chaos faction will unlock new units associated with each god. Additionally, at certain thresholds of glory, players will gain access to minor versions of each of the mono-god faction’s campaign mechanics, such as Tzeentch’s teleportation stance, Khorne’s Bloodletting, Nurgle’s plague bearing, and Slaanesh’s unit seduction system.

Daemonic Glory can build to a total of 3080 in each path, at which point players will need to choose to dedicate to one of the gods or to Chaos Undivided to progress any further. Once you choose a dedication, you will be able to accrue further glory in that path, unlocking even more special body parts and powerful Greater Daemons.

Though dedicating to a particular path prevents you from progressing further down the other paths, all progress reached before hand stays, so you can still call on forces of minor daemons and utilize body parts not found in the dedicated paths. There is a huge amount of flexibility for players to choose how they want to approach their Daemon Prince and how to build their forces.

Reign of Chaos

The Chaos Gods favor those who best carry out destruction and spread corruption in their name. For especially successful and murderous Daemon Princes, these deities will grant special powers to activate in battle.

During any given tactical battle, as the player’s army deals damage to their opponent, a meter will begin to fill up on the right side of the screen. This meter has several levels, with each being stronger than the previous one.

One the meter fills one level, a random battle-wide ability will be gifted to the player for use. The Daemon Prince can affect these odds in their skill tree by dedicating to a specific god to make it more likely that an ability of that god will be granted during battle.

Daemons of Chaos Army

The forces of the Daemons of Chaos are really quite the formidable force as they combine the daemonic rosters of each of the Chaos Gods, meaning they can cover for each other’s weaknesses. For example, Nurgle’s forces are quite slow and deal low damage, but in the Daemon Prince’s legion, Slaanesh’s Daemonettes and Khorne’s Bloodletters can provide mobility and damage respectively.

Though the Daemons of Chaos faction misses out on some of the mortal forces of the mono-god factions, this is more than made up by the number of daemon units and the synergy they provide for each other. There really is no wrong answer in how to build a fully Daemonic army, as dedicating to Chaos Undivided will unlock access to all Chaos Greater Daemons, which gives even more flexibility to this faction’s combat potential.

Army composition really comes to what you are most comfortable utilizing and how much role-playing you integrate in your playthrough.

The Daemons of Chaos faction is the ultimate fantasy for any fan of the Chaos Gods and their schemes. Here you can embody a loyal servant and turn the world upside down, or gain so much power that you challenge the gods themselves. What kind of Daemon Prince will you become?
