With the arrival of Captain America in Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3, it looks like another Avenger, Thor, may not be that far behind.
In the Captain America trailer, Cap gazes out at the Fortnite map from a cliff before jumping down. Right at the end in a blink and you’ll miss it moment, a strange formation can be seen on the ground.
Here’s that trailer:
And those strange markings on the ground:
Eagle-eyed fans will know this marking as what’s left behind when Thor uses the Bifrost to travel between the nine realms, first seen in the MCU in the not-that-great Thor: The Dark World. The Bifrost is actually very destructive with the ability to destroy worlds, so some scorch marks are the least of Thor’s problems.
This seems to be a major hint that Thor is on his way in Fortnite, especially as it’s a crossover that just makes a tonne of sense. As well as Captain America in this latest season, Black Widow, Star Lord, and Deadpool are all Marvel characters that have popped up in Fortnite over the years, and that’s without mentioning the two LTMs to coincide with the release of the last two Avengers movies.
There’s even a skin that’s been leaked from v13.20 that is almost certainly a homage to Thor. Dad Bod Jonesy bears more than a slight resemblance to the depressed, overweight Thor of Endgame. Might this release alongside Thor in the Fortnite Item Shop?

As for why Thor will be added, that’s a little harder to guess. There are no new movies due out this year, or really anything new at all. The only anniversary or event surrounding Thor that we can see is the anniversary of Thor’s first appearance in Journey into Mystery #83 from August 1962. Captain America makes sense to coincide with the 4th of July, but Thor is another story.
While we’re here, why is Captain America seemingly trying to track Thor down? Will this become part of an LTM, Cap vs. Thor? Who knows. We don’t think Thor will turn up this season, though: it will kind of take a bit too much away from Aquaman’s appearance as the Battle Pass skin to have two Marvel characters stealing all the headlines.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
