The Good Life, Animorphs-Meets-Murder Mystery, Gets Release Date

The creator of Deadly Premonition is back at it again with another absolutely gonzo premise for a game.

Continuing his career streak of making intentionally bizarre titles, Hidetaka Suehiro, aka SWERY’s newest title, The Good Life, developed by White Owls and Grounding and published by Playism, has gotten a release date and new trailer.

The Good Life takes place in the seemingly peaceful town of Rainy Woods, where players control debt-riddled photographer Naomi Hayward as she’s commissioned to investigate this mysterious town where everything seems too good to be true.

If that sounds a bit too standard for your tastes, have no fear: One twist of Rainy Woods is that everyone who lives there transforms into cats and dogs at night. Naomi will have to use her new animorph abilities to help her unravel the bizarre mysteries of Rainy Woods, as well as her photography skills to fulfill commissions, collect clues, and get to the bottom of the strange town.

The release date trailer shows footage of Naomi hunting for clues with her trusty camera, utilizing both dog and cat powers, and pondering the gravity of what exactly is going on in this idyllic English village.

The Good Life will be an open world game, with the entirety of Rainy Woods set for Naomi to traverse and explore. There’s no word yet on if she’ll be able to shred on a skateboard like Francis York Morgan in Deadly Premonition 2, but we can certainly hope.

When Does The Good Life Come Out?

The Good Life will be released on October 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
