Tenet: Christopher Nolan’s New Movie Adds Kenneth Branagh & Aaron Taylor-Johnson

"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."

All you Nolan fans wondering what his next project will be, well wait no longer. Screenrant reports that Christopher Nolan’s new movie Tenet begins production in June, and has recently added new cast members Kenneth Branagh and Aaron Taylor-Johnson into the mix. Branagh starred in Nolan’s previous movie Dunkirk, and Taylor-Johnson blew us all away with his twisted performance in Nocturnal Animals, which earned him a Golden Globe.

Other cast members to join the fun are Michael Caine, Clémence Poésy and Dimple Kapadia. Caine is no stranger to the world of Christopher Nolan, having been in every single one of his films since Batman Begins. Yes he wasn’t physically present in Dunkirk, but he had a voice cameo in the movie. His voice can be heard via radio link in the opening moments of the film, as he conveys information to the pilots. In an interview that Nolan did with NJ.com, he mentions that he just had to squeeze Caine into the film somehow, since Caine appears in all his recent films.

Existing cast members already on board are John David Washington (of BlacKkKlansman fame) and Robert Pattison, who is set to take on the role of the caped crusader in Matt Reeves’ new Batman film. Elizabeth Debicki (who was Ayesha in Guardians Vol. 2) will take on the female lead.

Nolan has certainly got himself quite a collection of actors, which is not surprising given how well received his movies have been. Variety reports that Dunkirk made $526 million internationally and earned Nolan his first Oscar nomination for Best Director.

After turning down the opportunity to do the next Bond film, it is interesting that Tenet involves the world of espionage. An action epic being filmed across seven different countries, with a script from Nolan himself that apparently is so “unreal” (this was Pattison’s response upon reading it) – I think we are in for the quite the treat.

We won’t have to wait too long though: Tenet is scheduled for release next year, July 17, 2020.
