Tales of Arise: How To Craft and Enhance Accessories

The accessories system in Tales of Arise is probably the most complex system at a glance in the whole game, both in terms of crafting accessories and enhancing accessories.

Crafting accessories isn’t available immediately in Tales of Arise, as you must first make your wait to Cyslodia, the second area in the game. Talk to the merchant and you will unlock the ability to craft and enhance accessories. All merchants offer this mechanic, as do all metal engravers at inns.

Here’s how the accessories system works in Tales of Arise.

 

Tales of Arise Creating Accessories Explained

To craft an accessory in Tales of Arise, walk up to a merchant or metal engraver and select Create Accessory.

Here’s where it gets slightly more complex.

Creating accessories requires you to collect ore, a material which is found by mining what looks like giant crystals in the ground.

Each mining spot contains a different ore, which will give your accessory different properties. For reference, Paralaxstone is one of the earliest accessory materials you will come across, and it’s used to give you immunity to paralysis for the Shock Charm.

As well as requiring different materials, accessories will require Gald to create. The more useful the accessory, the more expensive it is to create.

However, before you craft an accessory, you may also be able to craft a more potent version of that accessory with new skills, depending on the rarity of the materials you have collected.

The rarity of a material can be seen on the left.

And the accessory that will be crafted will be seen on the right, with its rank reflective of the level of the material.

The higher the rarity of the material, the more effective the created accessory will be and also how good its skills (basically stat boosts) are.

 

Tales of Arise Enhancing Accessories Explained

Once you’ve created the accessory, you are also able to enhance it and improve its rank, as well as give it new skills. Merchants and silver engravers will both allow you to enhance accessories.

You can use other materials to then enhance an accessory, with the higher the rarity of the material contributing to the levelling up of the enhancement. For instance, if you have 5x rarity 1 Opal Mass, that’d be enough to enhance an accessory to level 2, but if you had one rarity 5 Opal Mass, it’d do the same job.

Be sure to check that you don’t need the material for another accessory before you use it to enhance another, as you won’t actually get the skill from the material once you use it to enhance the accessory.

Enhancing accessories basically means to use a material as fuel for levelling up accessories without also getting their inherent skills, just the skills within the accessory  you are enhancing that are otherwise locked.
