The Star Wars franchise has always been praised for the sensational stories it brings, and while The Mandalorian certainly did take the live-action spotlight in that regard for quite some time, Star Wars: Visions was another new spin on the same universe. The animated anthology series featured a collection of 9 episodes colored into fruition by seven renowned Japanese anime studios.

Just the story of its production would’ve been enough to pull viewers in, but surprisingly, we got a dozen refreshing perspectives on many of our beloved characters too. That’s also why it didn’t come as a surprise when Disney confirmed that Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 or “Volume Two” is already in the works, and this time, it’s set to dive deeper into the galaxy far far away.

When Is Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 Coming Out?

UPDATE: Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 will release on May 4, 2023, on Disney+. The new season will feature 9 episodes animated by 9 different studios.

The official franchise Twitter account has confirmed that Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 is returning in spring 2023. The exact release date however still remains a mystery.

A delay on the other hand seems unlikely considering how many studios are working on the project and that they only have to animate a single or a few episodes each at best. The episode count for the second volume of the series hasn’t been confirmed either, although we expect that nine episodes will again make their way to the small screen.

What Is Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

Star Wars: Visions’ play on the classic fan-favorite series was something the fans had never experienced before, but once they did, they haven’t stopped asking for more since. The first season entailed self-contained stories in every episode, although we’re sure that in Star Wars: Visions: Season 2, we’ll be revisiting some of them.

Officially, we’ve got no word on what’s to come but the creators did state that they’re hoping on expanding this non-timeline iteration of Star Wars so that someday it might even inspire canonical storylines.

Which Studio Is Making Star Wars: Visions: Season 2?

The first collection of the epic tales we saw in Star Wars’ anime-type original wasn’t the work of a single studio. It was animated by seven of Japan’s most acclaimed anime production houses; Kamikaze Douga, Studio Colorido, Geno Studio, Studio Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Production I.G, and Science SARU. If these names sound familiar, they are the same studios that have worked on other mind-boggling projects like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Psycho-Pass, and Made in Abyss.

This time, Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 will be diversifying its reach as different studios from Chile, South Korea, the United States, the UK, Spain, France, and Japan are going to animate it. Every episode of the first season already had a distinctive style of animation, but now with even more studios added into the mix, expect some surprising visuals.

Where Will Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 Be Aired?

Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 will be airing on Disney+ in the spring of 2023. As Disney holds the rights to the Star Wars franchise, you’ll only be able to catch all related content on the service exclusively. That’s also why other shows like Andor and The Mandalorian are only available to stream on Disney+ too.

The Star Wars universe has displayed no signs of slowing down yet as multiple shows are going to expand its setting massively in 2023, though Star Wars: Visions: Season 2 will add more than most due to its focus on telling newer stories.
