Snowpiercer: Season 4 – What You Should Know

Snowpiercer
Snowpiercer

Snowpiercer is a television series based on a movie that’s based on a graphic novel. It’s about a post-apocalyptic world that has frozen over. What little remains of humanity is now cooped up in a perpetually running luxury train, the Snowpiercer. As if things aren’t bad enough, tensions are high among the survivors. The main cause being the unfair class system that has taken hold.

While the premise of a show that’s permanently shot on a train is promising, it can only last for so long. By the end of Season 3, the survivors have been split into two groups. One staying on the Snowpiercer, and the other leaving for a new habitable land in the Horn of Africa. So what now? Here’s what you should know about Snowpiercer: Season 4.

When Is Snowpiercer: Season 4 Being Released?

Sadly, Snowpiercer: Season 4 has been indefinitely paused and its release remains in limbo, even though the show has been fully produced. In January 2023, it was confirmed that TNT had scrapped the release of the fourth season of the series.

It might sound like it’s practically canceled at this point, but there may yet be hope, as the show itself is already filmed. All that’s left is to find somewhere they can show it. Sadly, there haven’t been any signs of when or where that might happen, even though its international distributor, Netflix, have been known to step in to carry on cancelled shows.

Will The Cast Return For Snowpiercer: Season 4?

Because of the scrapping, getting exact details about the show can be pretty challenging. However, it seems that most, if not all, of the cast that made it through Season 3 are still in Snowpiercer: Season 4. No changes were ever made public, so they probably will stay the same.

It seems like it’ll be a while before Snowpiercer: Season 4 shows up. So, you might want to check out other projects that the cast members of Snowpiercer are working on.

Jennifer Connelly (Melanie Cavill) is set to play a role in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Dark Matter.

Daveed Diggs (Andre Layton) will have roles in the upcoming films Trolls Band Together and In The Blink Of An Eye.

Sean Bean (Joseph Wilford) is involved in several upcoming projects, including Buffalo Kids, Shardlake, and Watch The Skies.

Mickey Sumner (Bess Till) will be in a medical thriller drama based on a novel called A Mistake.

Alison Wright (Ruth Wardell) will star in a short film called Biscuit and another film called Grounded.

What Is Snowpiercer: Season 4 About?

Snowpiercer: Season 4, which was intended to be the last season, would’ve hopefully given a satisfying conclusion to the series. The plot hasn’t been revealed yet, so the following is simply speculation.

The biggest thing to address is the volley of rockets seen in the finale of Snowpiercer: Season 3. There are multiple theories regarding this.

The first and most obvious one is that the missiles were from Wilford making another attempt at the Snowpiercer. This time not to control it, but to outright destroy it. If that’s the case, Season 4 is going to be about an all-out war against Wilford.

The second theory is that the missiles aren’t meant to destroy the Snowpiercer. They are instead specialized rockets that are meant to cause a second freeze. This plan would annihilate the colony in New Eden and bring about more despair. Wilford probably hopes the event would make the remaining survivors surrender to him out of fear or necessity.

Another theory is that the missile was actually a flare fired by Layton from New Eden. Maybe they’re under attack and are asking the remaining survivors on Snowpiercer for help.

Regardless of which of these prove to be true, it seems that Snowpiercer: Season 4 is leading up to the epic final confrontation between Melanie, Layton, and Wilford.
