Smalland Announced at Gamescom

Honey I shrunk the gamers.

Smalland

Merge Games’ open-world exploration game Smalland premiered a new trailer at Gamescom’s Future Games Show. The trailer presented a closer look at the game’s world, wherein small, insect-like beings live in a world similar to our own and presented a better sense of the game’s visual style and experience.

What Is Smalland?

Smalland is a “sandbox survival game” where players, shrunken to minuscule size, will have to survive in their enormous new environment, collecting resources, crafting materials, and even hitching a ride on a grasshopper to get around. The game’s use of scale turns common lizards into gigantic threats, and turns a single oak tree into the site of a sprawling city. Cooperation with other players will also lead to greater success and more ambitious projects to make the strange, hostile world more hospitable.

Smalland will also include other mechanics like base-building, equipment customization, and dynamic weather systems among others.

When Will Smalland Come Out?

Smalland is set to enter early access later this year, on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The trailer also revealed a demo will be coming for PC players in October, meaning interested players won’t have to wait long to try the super-sized experience.
