Rust PS4 & Xbox One Pre-Order Beta: What You Should Know

Pain time.

Following the successful closed beta for the game, the time has come for those who pre-ordered Rust: Console Edition on PS4 or Xbox One to have some more fun and misery with the game ahead of its launch next month.

Rust: Console Edition, while fundamentally similar, is a massively different vision of Rust compared to its bigger PC brother. A lot has had to be stripped back to make the CPU-hungry survival game work on console, which includes a big ding on the game’s performance, no horse riding, gestures, and tonnes more. Despite that, it’s one of the most anticipated ports of 2021 with millions eager to play Rust on a controller.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Rust pre-order beta for PS4 and Xbox One, including when it starts, ends, and how you, too, can indulge in the utter misanthropy.

When Does The Rust PS4 & Xbox One Pre-Order Beta Start?

There are actually two different start dates for the respective platforms:

PlayStation 4
The Rust PS4 Pre-Order Beta is available as of right now, April 23rd. However, we encountered issues with logging in to Rustworks and are unable to access the beta at this time of writing.

Xbox One
The Xbox One pre-order beta was slightly delayed compared to the PS4 version, but did end up coming out on the same day, April 23rd. No reason for this has been provided, but it’s probably to do with lightening the load on the servers.

When Does The Rust PS4 & Xbox One Pre-Order Beta End?

Again, there will be two different end dates for PS4 and Xbox players as well:

PlayStation 4
The PS4 Pre-Order Beta will run from now until May 6th, 2021 at an unannounced time.

Xbox One
As the Xbox One version was delayed slightly and had quite a few technical issues, it will likely go beyond May 6th to allow Xbox players to have the same amount of time with the beta.

How Do I Get The Rust PS4 & Xbox One Pre-Order Beta?

To get access to the Pre-Order Beta, you must purchase either of the Rust Console Edition – Ultimate (£64.99/$79.99) or Rust Console Edition – Deluxe (£49.99/$59.99) versions. You won’t get any access for buying the normal edition. You don’t get sent a key, it should just be automatically available to download and play. This means that there won’t be any keys just for the Pre-Order Beta online, so don’t believe anyone who promises to sell you a key or anything like that.

For everything that’s included in the different editions of Rust on PS4 and Xbox One, be sure to check out our guide. Don’t forget that you can also play the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S via backwards compatibility; no mention of native versions just yet.

Can I Make Content?

Yes, there will be no NDA with the pre-order beta, so you can stream and make other content with it at much as you want. Bear in mind that the earlier beta is still under NDA and likely always will be, so you cannot share anything from that.

However, seeing as how recording is still blocked on PS4/PS5, likely accidentally, you will need a capture card to actually make content from this Rust beta.

Rust: Console Edition will officially launch on May 21st, 2021 for PS4 and Xbox One, so you won’t have long to wait once this newest beta is available. Rust is currently available on PC.
