Rust PS4 & Xbox One Release Date, Pre-Orders, Editions & More Explained

There's a lot to figure out here.

With a release date set for May 21st, 2021, we can finally look forward to properly playing Rust: Console Edition on PS4 and Xbox One after years of waiting. As is tradition for the gaming industry these days, though, all the different editions and pre-order incentives for the game could do with explaining.

The different editions of Rust on console give the game multiple release dates, different server access, cosmetics, and more. Here’s everything you need to know to find out which edition of the game is right for you.

Rust Console Edition – Standard (£44.99/$49.99)

Here’s everything you get in the Standard Edition of Rust on PS4 and Xbox One:

– Rust Console Edition game
– Future Tools & Weapons skin pack

This is the cheapest, most basic option there is for Rust and you just get the game as well as a skin pack, which includes the following:

Rust Future Weapons

If you don’t care about playing early, get this one. However, it is a bit of an oddity that the console version of the game, which has far less features and doesn’t perform nearly as well as the PC version, will cost significantly more. Rust on Steam will set you back £30.99.

Rust Console Edition – Deluxe (£49.99/$59.99)

Here’s everything you get in the Deluxe Edition of Rust on PS4 and Xbox One:

– Rust Console Edition game
– Future Tools & Weapons skin pack (pre-order bonus only)
– New Cobalt Employee – Welcome Pack
– 3-day Early Access
– Public Test Branch access
– Closed Beta access

Costing a bit more than the Standard Edition, Deluxe gives you early access to Rust so you can play on May 18th, as well as access to a the public test branch so you can test out changes before they widely release.

On top of that, you will also receive the New Cobalt Employee – Welcome Pack, which is a set of Epic and Rare skins to use in-game.

If you want early access and some cosmetics, pay a little extra for this Deluxe version.

Rust Console Edition – Ultimate (£64.99/$79.99)

Here’s everything you get in the Ultimate Edition of Rust on PS4 and Xbox One:

Rust Console Edition game
Future Tools & Weapons skin pack
Ultimate Welcome pack
Elite Combat skin pack
1100 Rust Coins
3-day Early Access
Public Test Branch access
Closed Beta access

Ultimate is the most expensive edition of Rust on console and it gives you everything already mentioned, plus some extra goodies.

The Ultimate Welcome pack is a bigger version of the one in Deluxe, featuring skins for pretty much everything that can have a skin.

You also get the Elite Combat skin pack, which features Legendary cosmetics for the best gear in the game.

You will also get 1100 Rust Coins to use in the console-exclusive skin store for Rust. It’s not sure yet how this works, but a good guess is that it will be similar to Fortnite’s Item Shop with rotating items and special currency.

So, in essence: if you buy the more expensive versions of Rust on console, you can play the game early on May 18th, and also play on test servers to help shape the future of the game. You can also unlock exclusive cosmetics and even currency for buying either the Deluxe or Ultimate editions, but if you aren’t concerned about that or about playing the game slightly early, you should stick with the Standard edition.

Rust: Console Edition will only be available digitally from PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store with physical editions planned down the line.

Rust is available now for PC.
