During today’s Inside Xbox episode, it was revealed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be introducing cross-platform console play in the coming months, meaning Xbox One and PS4 PUBG players will be able to compete for chicken dinners from this October.

Cross-platform play will be introduced in the middle of Season 4: Aftermath, a new wave of content that adds a host of new features to the game, including an overhaul of the original map Erangel. There’s also a new Survivor Pass that includes over 100 rewards to earn, and new community challenges that unlock their own rewards.

The Season 4 update launches on August 27th, and it’s also part of an initiative to bring console play closer to PC in terms of updates, as consoles will get new updates within two weeks of PC from Season 4 onwards.

Still, the biggest news is the coming introduction of cross-platform console play, which was designed to maximise the amount of players in every game while also reducing overall matchmaking times. Testing will begin on the Public Test Server in late September, with a full launch in the live servers expected in early October. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments.
