Pokémon Sword and Shield: How To Get More Toys

A playful Pokémon is a happy Pokémon.

Pokémon Sword and Shield brings a lot of big changes to the Pokémon experience, including the ability to Dynamax and send your Pokémon out on jobs. You can also spend some time with your Pokémon in Pokémon Camp while cooking for and playing with them.

You don’t have many toys to start off with, just a feather with a bell and a regular Poké Ball toy. So, how do you get more toys in Pokémon Sword and Shield?

The first thing you need to do is make sure you’re cooking loads of different curries for your Pokémon. If you need more key ingredients, simply connect to the internet in a Wild Area and then “talk” to the other human players you encounter and they will often give you one.

Once you’ve whipped up a tonne of curries for your Pokémon, head to the steps that lead to Motostoke and hang a left. Talk to the hiker there.

Poke Toys

For every five curries you make your Pokémon, they will give you a new toy to use to play with them with. You can get balls that bounce as well as heavy balls that drop like a tonne of bricks.

Playing with your Pokémon while camping is a really effective way of increasing their friendliness with you. Being best friends with your Pokémon means they may be more likely to hit critical hits and avoid attacks in battle. In the case of Eevee, you also need to be really close to them to get them to evolve into certain forms.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are out now on Nintendo Switch.
