Pokémon Sword and Shield: Where To Find Evolution Stones

Get stoned.

Pokemon Thunder Stones 2#

Pokémon Sword and Shield maintains the series tradition of including Evolution Stones to evolve certain Pokémon. The most famous example of this is Pikachu evolving into Raichu via a Thunder Stone, but where do you find the Evolution Stones in Pokémon Sword and Shield if you want to do it?

There are a few ways of finding Evolution Stones, which includes finding them hidden away across the world of Galar. The easiest method, though, is to head to the northeast of the Wild Area, just before you reach Hammerlocke.

You should see a small island separated by water from the mainland of the Wild Area. To get there, you will need to have upgraded your Rotom Bike to travel on water.

Travel across the water on your Rotom Bike and onto the island and you should see a collection of upwards rocks that look like a homage to Stonehenge.

Behind each of these rocks, you will find a Evolution Stone.

What’s good about this is that they sporadically regenerate, which means that you can keep returning over time to collect more.

The second method is all based on luck and may not give you every single Evolution Stone you need, but it’s a good way of farming certain ones up.

Staying in the Wild Area, travel to the nursery. You should see a pair of hikers known as the Digging Duo nearby.

For 500 watts, these two will dig up rare items, which more often than not includes Evolution Stones. They seem to give an abundance of Moon Stones and not too many Fire, Water, or Leaf Stones, though.

If you need more watts, you can always travel across the Wild Area and interact with the wells to collect more. You earn 50 watts for a well without a Pokémon inside and 300+ if there is one.

There is another way to get Evolution Stones, but this one feels like even shorter odds than relying on the Digging Duo.

If you send your Pokémon out on Poké Jobs, there’s a chance you may receive an Evolution Stone for them having done a good job.

We’ve previously earned a Fire Stone for sending all the right Pokémon out for the right job, but we can’t tell if there’s an exact formula to earning Evolution Stones from Poké Jobs.
