Pokémon Sword and Shield: How To Go Faster On The Rotom Bike

Gotta go fast.

Pokemon Bikes

Pokémon Sword and Shield are two pretty big games that will take you all the way across Galar and back many times over as you conquer gyms and build up your badges. It’s a lot of travelling which can be helped by picking a up a bike. The Rotom Bike still too slow for you? There’s a way to make it even faster.

You will mostly be using the Rotom Bike out in Wild Areas, which is where you will also find the person you need who will upgrade your bike to make it faster.

The earliest opportunity to upgrade your Rotom Bike comes just as you are about to enter Motostoke for the first time from the Wild Area. At the foot of the stairs, hang a left and you will see a guy there.

There’s also one of these guys on the way to Hammerlocke near the Nursery.

Talk to him, and there is an option to “improve my bike“. The guy will accept watts as payment for making your Rotom Bike faster. Watts can be found in the wells scattered around Wild Areas that contain Dynamax Pokémon. It gets very pricey the more you want to upgrade.

Once you’ve upgraded, you can then press B while on the Rotom Bike to go faster. This is the best way of succeeding in a Rotom Rally, which you can also take part in from the same guy who upgrades your bike.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are out now on Nintendo Switch.
