Nintendo Teasing A New Peripheral For The Switch

What the hell is this?

Nintendo

Nintendo have published a new video on their YouTube channel, teasing the reveal of a brand new peripheral on September 12th, and your guess is as good as mine on what the hell it actually is. Check out the video below, then come back here for a discussion and possibly some scones.

The peripheral comes in two parts, with a big ring that houses one Joy-Con and a velcro strap that goes around your leg which holds the other. Our best logical guess would be that this new peripheral is somehow exercise related, as the video above showcases people around the world using the un-named items for various physical activities. If it is an exercise aid, it certainly seems a bit safer than a giant Wii Fit board that you’d probably fall over when you forget to lay it up.

That said, this is Nintendo after all, so this could be anything from a Bow and Arrow simulator with attached leg quiver to something that’s going to break your TV when you inevitably try to whirl the ring part of the peripheral around your arm. YouTube user hlebysq possibly made the best point, however, as it’ll only be a matter of time before someone uses what the hell this controller is for a Dark Souls speedrun. Either way, we’ll find out next week. What’s your best guess on Nintendo’s next brand of silliness? Sound off in the comments below.
