Following its long expected reveal at PlayStation Showcase 2023, details have slowly, painstakingly been trickling out about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the current gen remake for the classic Metal Gear Solid 3. While there’s still plenty that’s up in the air, including if the voice lines will be re-recorded by the original voice actors or simply remastered, we know one thing for sure: the leaves in this game sure are neat.

Konami has today (May 27th, 2023) revealed a brand new screenshot for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater that focuses on some of the shrubbery you will be encountering across the game’s swamps.

And that’s really just about all I can say about some foliage. It certainly looks pretty, and the raindrops on the leaves are a lovely flourish, but it’s not exactly some revelatory glimpse at the game. It’s worth noting that there does seem to be much more of a wintry gloom to the landscapes so far than the more autumnal scenes in the original, but again that’s a little hard to look into too much.

Here’s the other Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater screenshots that have been released so far, one more thyme:

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater doesn’t currently have a release date, but the speculation is that it will launch sometime in 2024. Here’s hoping it’s not too long before we see even more beautiful leaves, and they don’t moss around with unveiling more info soon, or we don’t know if we’ll be able to dill with it.

Alright, we’ll stop. We’ll herb our enthusiasm for plant puns. For now.

Oh, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1 is due out this year and includes the first five mainline games in the series, but details are also thin on the ground apart from the fact that it’s coming to PS5 and it will be getting a physical release. They’re cutting it pretty vine to announce any other platforms if they were gonna happen.

No seriously, we’re done. It’s getting a bit mulch.
