Over a year after it originally aired on Netflix, season 1 of Luke Cage will finally be heading to DVD and Blu-ray on November 27.

Although the show was a Netflix original production, the physical media releases will be distributed by Marvel’s parent company, Disney. The box art for the physical releases can be viewed below.

Even if the show was a little on the lengthy side, there’s absolutely no denying that Mike Colter was fantastic as the former cop turned indestructible superhero. He may be able to withstand a hail of bullets, but Colter was able able to perfectly tap into Cage’s vulnerability and humanity. Also fantastic was Rosario Dawson as Cage’s love interest Claire Temple, and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the ruthless gangster Cottonmouth. There are a ton of other great things to praise, but the best thing about Luke Cage was that it wasn’t Iron Fist.

Like all the Marvel Netflix shows, Luke Cage was also set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or Earth-199999, to be precise), and occasionally referenced the characters and events from the Avengers movies. You can see some of the MCU references in the show starting from 2:16 in the video compilation below.

In addition to namedropping the Avengers (“Tony Stark, the big blonde dude with the hammer, the old dude with the shield, the green monster, and I don’t mean Fenway”), we also get references to everything from aliens coming out of the sky all the way to Thor’s magic hammer, with Cage himself being referred to as ‘Harlem’s Captain America’. Hardcore Marvel fans will definitely have a great time picking out all the Easter eggs, and there are a ton to pick out.

Season one of Luke Cage is currently available to pre-order on Amazon on both DVD and Blu-ray formats. Zavvi will also be exclusively be selling a Blu-ray steelbook.
