Here’s How to Get Fallout 4’s Best Weapon Early

Cryolator Fallout 4

Having been out for little more than three days, many gamers have already begun to unearth all the secrets that Fallout 4’s Wasteland has to offer. Considering this IS a Bethesda game, people have also found out how to exploit their way to get the Cryolator, the game’s best gun, really early in the game.

Coming courtesy of the always excellent (check out her work after you’ve finished reading this) Patricia Hernandez at Kotaku, it’s a neat little exploit that can really help you out during the unforgiving early stages of Fallout 4.

It’s pretty straightforward. Just go back to Vault 111 with Dogmeat (who you get a couple of hours into the game), making sure you press the button in a nearby cabin to activate the lift, and make your way to the Overseer’s office. Once there, approach a frosty looking cabinet and talk to Dogmeat, asking him to fetch you items. Watch in delight as he takes the Cryolator without the need for bobby pins or even thumbs. Make sure you also trade with him to find all the ammo.

On the subject of ammo, it’s going to be really tight for you in the early stages of the game. Although the Cryolator does come with 200 rounds to begin with, it’s worth conserving it as much as you can for when it’s essential. If you’re flush with caps, you can find more ammo for it at the Drumlin Diner.
