Hadean Reveal Footage Of Their 10,000 Player Battle Royale Aether Wars

Someone call Linford Christie, this might be a record breaker.

Aether Wars

A few weeks back, we reported on the London based tech start-up Hadean launching a 10,000 player battle royale to stress test their Aether Engine technology. Back then, it didn’t even have a name or any gameplay footage, but what a difference a couple of weeks make. Say hello to Aether Wars, and check out the trailer below.

As the video says, sign-ups for this unique battle royale experience are live now on the Aether Wars website. Of course, Hadean would like to walk before they can run, so they will be running a 1000 player battle royale in a few short weeks, with the 10,000 player experience scheduled for a later date. If the 10K attempt is successful, it’ll smash a record for most concurrent players in a single online battle, a record which is currently being held by CCP Games after 6,142 players got into a war in EVE Online.

As mentioned earlier, Aether Wars is primarily designed to be a showcase for Hadean’s Aether Engine technology, a spatial simulation engine that’ll allow developers to create massive, persistent universes for only a fraction of the code normally. Should the stress test go well, we could be looking at the future of online multiplayer. That’s if you can all drag yourselves away from Apex Legends first.
