Grand Theft Auto 6 was already the most anticipated game of all-time, and that was before the first reveal trailer whipped everyone into a frenzy. Now that the game has finally been confirmed to release in 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X & S, people are more excited than ever, though a PC release has yet to be confirmed. When it does eventually arrive on PC, the question many will ask is if it’ll be available to play on the Steam Deck, Valve’s portable hardware that allows you to play Steam games on the go.

Again, while a PC release hasn’t been confirmed yet for GTA 6, it’s likely that when GTA 6 does make its way to Steam at some point, Rockstar will do everything in their power to make Grand Theft Auto 6 playable on the Steam Deck, so we expect that it will be at least be somewhat supported. Currently, GTA 5 is already listed as  “Playable” on the Deck, which means Rockstar clearly values that community of gamers who love playing video games while they’re sat on the toilet. We wouldn’t be surprised if Rockstar go out of their way to ensure GTA 6 is also at least playable on the Steam Deck.

You might think that a game like GTA 6 might be too much for the Steam Deck to handle, but it’s also worth remembering that Valve have been very open about the fact that they’re always looking to improve the Steam Deck. Already, Valve have released a second iteration of the Deck which upgraded the screen to an OLED, so by the time GTA 6 on PC rolls around, Valve could have launched the Steam Deck 2 by then.

About Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 depicts main protagonist Lucia and her male partner, believed to be called Jason, as try to murder, shoot and steal their through the Vice City criminal empire. That’s just the single player story though, as you can probably expect a massive GTA Online mode too. Hopefully, it won’t have as many people blasting you from orbit with a huge laser though.
