In 2020, HoYoverse, previously known as miHoYo, released a new open-world action RPG named Genshin Impact. The game took the world by storm, as it now has a pretty active fanbase with over 60 million players. Despite taking a few elements from Breath of the Wild, Genshin Impact’s immersive story, well-done character designs, and fluid combat make it one of the best RPG games today. With its popularity and success, some fans are wondering if Genshin Impact will become available on Xbox at some point.
Right now, the answer is no, Genshin Impact isn’t coming to Xbox Series X & S or Xbox One, at least not yet. HoYoverse hasn’t announced any plans for a Genshin Impact Xbox release. The company, however, is currently developing a Nintendo Switch version for Genshin Impact, which’ll be released sometime in the future. Most likely, HoYoverse is still focusing on the Switch release before they port the game to Xbox. It’s likely that those with Game Pass will get some perks if it ever does come to Xbox.
However, it’s worth noting that HoYoverse has never released a game on Xbox, so there’s a chance that we may never play Genshin Impact on our Xbox consoles. Still, Genshin Impact is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, mobile, and the Switch soon. With the amount of cross-platform Genshin Impact already has, we can’t rule out a potential Xbox release in the future.

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action RPG set in the world of Teyvat. The main character (Lumine or Aether depending on who you pick) was banished to Teyvat after fighting an unknown god with their sibling. After losing your powers and being separated from your sibling, you’ll be accompanied by Paimon as you explore the vast world of Teyvat to reunite with your brother/sister. Throughout the game, you’ll travel to every region of Teyvat, meet several characters, and fight powerful enemies on your path.
That’s the main gist of Genshin Impact, but there’s more to the game than that. You can also obtain the characters you meet in the story, which allows you to form powerful team compositions or simply a party of your favorite characters. However, you should know that most characters are locked behind a gacha system before you add them to your team. This means you have to use Genshin’s Wish System by spending a premium currency called “Primogems” to get a random chance to obtain your desired character. But don’t worry because you can still earn free Primogems by constantly playing the game.
Despite the potentially money-draining systems, several players still enjoy Genshin Impact. Its overall game design gave fans a memorable experience that made them come back from time to time. Moreover, HoYoverse is periodically releasing updates and more story content, which is another reason why Genshin Impact is so successful in retaining its fanbase over time.
